KIB120 - One Image Per Day Collection

Week 1 | Day 1

Pears.
With water applied - left
Without water - right

Interesting comparison and nice experimentation
Week 1 | Day 2

A piece from the Valentino Fall 2013 collection.
Drawn on grey paper with white and black charcoal and white acrylic paint.

Photoshop
Week 1 | Day 3

A beautiful set of flowers at work.
I love red and white flowers - they remind me of romance.

Week 1 | Day 4

My friend's dog, Abbey.
She is the most adorable and most friendly.

Week 1 | Day 5
Scientific Illustration

Scientific Illustration of an apple. Tried to work a lot with toning. Getting back into drawing is difficult when it's been such a long time. Started out with simple items such as an apple.
Week 1 | Day 6
Scientific Illustration cont.

A little 'scientific' sketch of my mirror in my room.
Bit harder to draw furniture. Obviously I tried to draw the reflection of my bed and curtain as well.
Week 2 | Day 7
Scientific Illustration

Scientific Illustration of classmate. We had to draw with our eyes and accurately display said person.

Week 2 | Day 8

Scientific Illustration

Scientific Illustration of a disposable camera.
Captured the camera just like it captures me.
Week 2 | Day 9
Scientific Illustration

When I think scientific illustration, I think of nature. So I went outside and took some leaves to draw.
Week 2 | Day 10

Scientific Illustration of pears

Really proud of this drawing. I love how realistic it looks and how I've captured the light and shadows.
Week 2 | Day 11

Scientific Illusration
Lips. Another thing I think of (besides nature as previously mentioned) is living things - humans and animals. Lips are a body part I quite enjoy - and I love lipstick!
Week 2 | Day 12
Scientific Illustration

Scientific Illustration: male glutes. Not usually a "human drawer" but I love to try sometimes as it's an area I would like to improve on. Used shading to depict lighting and shadows. Much as the same post as reasoning behind why body part. Also my favourite male body part.
Week 2 | Day 13
Scientific Illustration

Scientific illustration of female
Well, since I drew male glutes thought I may as well complement it with a female backside as well. A lot different to male, more softer, plump.
Week 3 | Day 14

Scientific Illustration

Scientific illustration of my teapot.
I absolutely love tea (and coffee)! It is my be all and end all.

Inverted, Photoshop
Week 3 | Day 15
Visual Commentary + Story telling
Commentary Drawing.
Using isotypes to form a story in a 'comic strip' design.

Went out for dinner and some drinks. Then went dancing and went home.
Week 3 | Day 16

Story telling

Using isotypes to tell a story.
Have a cup of coffee, wait for the train to go to work.
Week 3 | Day 17
Visual Commentary + Story telling

Caricature of Tony Abbott
I'm a little bit stumped on this week's theme so seeing as in tutes we looked at politics I drew one of the most talked about (and most loved - cough-).
Week 3 | Day 18
Visual Commentary + Story telling

Once again playing around in Illustrator.
I love lollies and feel these are very comical and cartoonish in style.
Week 3 | Day 19

Spent a lot of my day (like hours!) playing with fonts - editing them in Illustrator/Photoshop for the Frock Paper Scissors magazine. This involved using a lot of the programs features and experimentation. It was extremely tidious but I can literally spend hours on these programs until I'm happy with my result.

Illustrator
Week 3 | Day 20
Makeup Face Chart

Experimenting with different products on paper. Obviously makeup is intended for skin and not paper so it was interesting to see the effect on a different canvas. + I've been obsessing over makeup lately.
Colours were slightly enhanced and experiemented with via Photoshop.
Week 4 | Day 21

Illustration + Persuasion

Advertisement based on 1950's influences.
- overly tanned 'glowing' woman
- really loud and cliché language
Challenging project for myself as I hadn't created anything quite alike before. Thought it was approrpiate because graphic design is all about communicating a message to the audience. This advertisement in particular is about 'selling the dream' rather than the product. I believe this advertisement is persuading the consumer to buy their product.

Photoshop & Illustrator

Week 4 | Day 22

Earlier on in my image collection I drew the mirror on the left.
I decided to amp it up a little and edit it using Illustrator with textures of wood, cotton and plastic (for the bags). The result is on the right.

Illustrator & Photoshop
Week 4 | Day 23

Makeup Face
I loved my last one so much that I decided to do it again, with a slightly different look.
Created using permanent marker, eyeshadows, blushes, coloured pencils and then enhanced via Photoshop.
Week 4 | Day 24

Now do you feel like a cuppa?
Illustrator.

Week 4 | Day 25

Took a photograph of a garden Buddah statue in my friend's backyard.
Using Photoshop to reproduce and edit the colouring, I have created an abstract 'alien-like' image.

Week 4 | Day 26

A fashion brand and collection I designed called Zondeux A/W 15.
Based on trend forcasts from WGSN.

Illustrator & Photoshop.
Week 5 | Day 27
Illustration, Identity + Pattern

I took a photo of an interesting foam texture and edited the crap out of it in Photoshop to create an even more interesting texture! Love the abstract spotted pattern.

Week 5 | Day 28

Illustration, Identity + Pattern
Who would have thought I'd make such a cool pattern out of the left image!
I love the patent surface, really creates a certain unique texture to the pattern outcome.

Photoshop
Week 5 | Day 29

Illustration, Identity + Pattern

I cleaned up the original image and while the new version on the right isn't *too* much different I really, really like it. It would be a cool background on a website or something. Very minimalist, very simple.

Photoshop

Week 5 | Day 30
Illustration, Identity + Pattern

I thought this was rather appropriate as I am studying the Fashion Style & Journalism unit this semester and a part of the Frock 2014 team.
This logo I designed will be representing the identity of Frock Paper Scissors 2014.

Week 5 | Day 31

A little challenging experiment for myself, around the concept of romance + industrial.
I used a plank of wood, spray painted black. I then hammered nails into the shape of 'love' and used white thread to fill in the cursive letters.

Week 5 | Day 32

A paisley pattern created with line and stippling.
Edited and reproduced in Photoshop.
Week 5 | Day 33

Illustration, Identity + Pattern

This imagery caught my eye while at the beach. The texture of the hard rock and grainy sand combined with the different sizes, depths and shapes inside the rock create an interesting and unique pattern.

Photoshop

Week 5 | Day 34

Illustration, Identity + Pattern

Laced with sea salt - the delicate lace pattern of the pin wheel at a café by the sea.

Week 6 | Day 35

Photography

The shadows from the palm trees create interest in the sand. So many textures apparent such as the sand, tree leaves, clouds rocks and waves.
Week 6 | Day 36
Photography

This little guy flew onto my window today & thought he would be great for this collection.
I put a radial blur on the background to make him the focal point, enhanced the background colours while I was at it. Then I simply put a filter on him and copied him multiple times while changing the opacity. I thought he was fitting of Week 3's content surrounding bugs ie. The Very Hungry Caterpiller and layering.

Photoshop
Week 6 | Day 37
Photography

Personally, I love birthdays, cake & sparklers.
It instantly makes me so happy & giddy. I love how birthdays have the same effect on other people. It's just a great vibe. Unfortunately I usually hype my birthday up too much.

Photoshop

Week 6 | Day 38
Photography

The first fallen..
These "weeds" are very interesting in shape. They make an interesting photograph.

Photoshop

Week 6 | Day 39

The lonesome helmet.

Photoshop
Week 6 | Day 40
Photography

Reminds me of the beach in the city suburbs.
There's even palm trees in the window reflection.

Photoshop

Week 7 | Day 41

Photography: Landscape & Composition

Capturing the crowd at Noosa beach.
Sand and people are in the bottom section, with the ocean and trees taking up the middle with the very blue sky at the top.

Photoshop

Week 7 | Day 42

Photography: Landscape & Composition

Taken at uni. Trees, building and sky. I like how the building breaks up the nature and plays with the levels in the photo.

Photoshop

Week 7 | Day 43

Photography: Landscape & Composition

One of my favourite photos I've taken.
This is at Rainbow Beach just as the sun was setting. The colour palette is beautiful.
I see this photo using the swirl theory of photography with the bottom right being the focus.
The waves create subtle lines and the trees in the ground sort of beautifully clash in an abstract way.

Week 7 | Day 44

Photography: Landscape & Composition

A sort of abstract approach to this. The flower is a photograph which I've edited into this pen + watercolour drawing.

Photoshop, water colour pencils, ink pen
Week 7 | Day 45

Photography: Landscape & Composition

Using a filter I combined one image of the beach on top of the cliff and one of the inside in the cliff together. I particularly like the colours and different textures of water, trees and solid rock.

Photoshop
Week 7 | Day 46

Photography: Landscape & Composition

Mixed Media.
Using a beautiful image of the ocean I took to Illustrator & Photoshop to create some lighting effects and a mermaid.
Week 7 | Day 47

Photography: Landscape & Composition

Architecture. This house caught my eye because of its modern aesthetic, colour palette and lines.
Week 8 | Day 48

Photography: Lighting & Portraits

The Summer to Come.
Bright colours! Thirst-quenching beverages, red lips and beautiful fashion!

Styling done by me
Photoshop
Week 8 | Day 49

Photography: Lighting & Portraits

The Summer to Come.
I adore not only lighting seeping through the egg chair onto my model but also the pattern of it - creates so much interest in the photo.

Photoshop

Week 8 | Day 50

Photography: Lighting & Portraits

The Summer to Come. By the pool.

Photoshop
Week 8 | Day 51

Photography: Lighting & Portraits

A kodak moment for Woody. I love the expression I've captured on her face.

Photoshop
Week 8 | Day 52

Photography: Lighting and Portraits

A man sunbaking on the rocks.
I love the comparison of the rocks and the waves. The rocks are solid and linear whereas the waves are bright, scattered and reflect the light.

Week 8 | Day 53

Photography: Lighting & Portraits

Photographing a strangers outfit. Full length.

Photoshop

Week 8 | Day 54

Love, love, loving this all white mesh.

Photoshop
Week 9 | Day 56

A bucket of prawns!
Week 9 | Day 57

A landscape image of two trees using watercolour pencils
Week 9 | Day 58

Chocolate cake with caramel macadamia brittle.
So delicious.
I love the effect of the brittle on top of the cake and glass-like texture. Very cool.
Week 9 | Day 59

Dead and alive.
Human and nature.

Graphite, 2B & 6B pencils.

Week 9 | Day 60

Abstract portrait.
Images drawn seperately, scanned in and edited on Photoshop.
Week 9 | Day 61

Aromatic candles are relaxing after a long day.
PS. Fire is fascinating.
